Operational Functions
The basic operational functions of a forklift include horizontal transport, stacking/picking, loading/unloading, and order picking. The specific functions required by the company can be initially determined from the models listed above. Additionally, special operational functions will affect the specific configuration of the forklift. For example, when handling paper rolls or molten iron, attachments are needed to complete the special functions.
Operational Requirements
The operational requirements of a forklift include general requirements such as pallet or cargo specifications, lifting height, aisle width, and gradeability. At the same time, operational efficiency (different models have different efficiencies) and operating habits (such as whether the operator prefers a seated or standing position) must also be considered.
Operating Environment
If the goods being handled or the warehouse environment has environmental requirements regarding noise or exhaust emissions, these should be considered when selecting the model and configuration. If the environment is in a cold storage facility or has explosion-proof requirements, the forklift should be configured as a cold storage type or explosion-proof type. Carefully examine the locations the forklift will pass through during operation and anticipate potential problems. For example, will the door height affect the forklift when entering or leaving the warehouse? How will the elevator height and load capacity affect the forklift when entering or leaving the elevator? Does the floor load capacity meet the requirements when operating on upper floors?
